I finally managed to solve my problems with the Windows Radeon Drivers on my MacBook Pro. When in Boot Camp, I was never able to set the resolution of my external monitor right, even though it worked in OS X.

I first tried to install the Radeon Omage Drivers from here, which helped a little, but still didn’t really work right: I was able to set some resolutions, but not all, and especially not 1680×1050, my external monitor’s native resolution.

The solution for that is simple: In Display Properties | Settings | Advanced | Displays, un-check the checkbox marked “Preserve Wide Aspect Ratio on attached displays.” Then it just works.

Update: Ok so I’m told most people believe that the whole Fake Steve getting sued thing is bogus. Okay, so I myself have stopped reading Fake Steve Jobs months ago, but a little bird told me that he’s getting sued by Apple for uncovering trade secrets! For those who don’t know the guy, he’s a blogger who [...]

Update: Ok so I’m told most people believe that the whole Fake Steve getting sued thing is bogus. Okay, so I myself have stopped reading Fake Steve Jobs months ago, but a little bird told me that he’s getting sued by Apple for uncovering trade secrets! For those who don’t know the guy, he’s a blogger who impersonates Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, and doing a damn good job at it, too. That’s why I stopped reading, because it was getting creepy: Apple has shown more and more of their evil side lately, and so has Fake Steve, lashing out at any strategic enemies of Apple and writing his own propaganda, so that I couldn’t really differentiate the blog from the company’s official standpoint — even if the real Apple posts tend to contain far less swearwords. So here we are with satirical website that’s getting sued by The Man. You’d think the EFF would have a field day, “defending freedom in the digital world” and all that. But, alas, I have to quote:

Q. “You should get EFF to represent you.”A. I tried, but at first they ignored me and then when I persisted I was told that EFF doesn’t appreciate some of the shit I’ve said about them in the past, because I’ve been pretty critical of them. I said okay, maybe you don’t like what I’ve written about you, but surely you’ll defend my right to say it, won’t you? Their response: “We only help people we like. Good luck.” Click. Dial tone.

So he’s blogged against the EFF more than once, but surely that can’t be it, can it? “We don’t like what you say, so you don’t get our help” ? What happened to Defending Free Speech(tm) and Supporting Bloggers’ Rights(tm)? Wow, very impressive, EFF!You know what the cool move would have been? To just help this guy, even if he has satirized you before. Because that would buy you not only an easy win, but tons of goodwill and respect. But, apparently you don’t need that when you are valiantly defending everyone’s right to free speech online. Right?
